Bestseller and Bouwbedrijf van De Ven choose Altebra’s expertise
State-of-the-art and Sustainable Distribution Center
Bestseller is an international fashion company known for brands such as Jack & Jones, Vero Moda, and Only. With its new distribution center, it is pursuing a strategic expansion of its logistics capacity. From Lelystad, located about 60 km from Amsterdam, the Danish group will be able to organize itself more efficiently within Europe and support its growing e-commerce activities.
The distribution center, covering an area of 155,000 m², with a storage capacity of 1,400,000 boxes and a weekly processing capacity of 3,500,000 items, is being built to the highest standards of energy efficiency. It is constructed entirely from solid wood, insulated with innovative straw wall systems, and equipped with a green roof and, in the first phase, 30,000 m2 of solar panels. More than two-thirds of the 300,000 m2 site is also reserved for natural areas such as wetlands, forests, and heathlands.
By integrating smart technologies and innovative construction methods, Bestseller is taking an important step towards a climate-friendly supply chain.
Altebra, Total Fire Safety Partner
The scale — this is the largest logistics center in Europe made of solid wood! — and the sustainable character of the project required special attention to fire protection. Bouwbedrijf van De Ven entrusted this to Altebra. Our experts were already involved in the engineering phase and will also handle the installation and maintenance of the fire protection systems.
